You are all invited to come. 歡迎您自由到場聽講 !

Time: Jan 29, 2018(Monday, 10:00 am)
Venue: R528, Engineering Building 4, NCTU (通大學工程四館5樓528室)

Speaker: Dr. Wen-Huang Cheng / Academia Sinica
Language : Chinese

Host : Dept. of Electronics Engineering and Institute of Electronics

Abstract:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the capability of computers to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. AI has been changing our lives for decades, but never has AI felt more ubiquitous than now. As humans, visual sensing is central to the way we learn about the world, and it follows that the pursuit of AI to have human (or better than human) skills, will require substantial advances for computers to process and interpret the sensing visual data. Therefore, in this talk, I would like to share our research experience on the aspect of AI in using computer vision and deep learning to empower computers with visual intelligence, i.e., offering computers with the ability to learn from the sensing visual data without being explicitly programmed. Practical examples involving several application domains, such as human behavior understanding, personal fashion advising, smart social media, and industrial manufacturing, will be presented and discussed.

Bio:

Wen-Huang Cheng received the Ph.D. (Hons.) degree from the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia, National Taiwan University, in 2008. He is an Associate Research Fellow (Associate Professor) with the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, where he is the Founding Leader with the Multimedia Computing Laboratory (MCLab). Before joining Academia Sinica, he was a Principal Researcher with MagicLabs, HTC Corporation, Taoyuan, Taiwan, from 2009 to 2010. His current research interests include intelligent multimedia computing, deep learning, computer vision, and social media analytics.
